Obituary of Sylvia Rhodena "Sybie" Nicholson, Dominion/Port Morien

Sylvia Rhodena "Sybie" Nicholson (McLean) nee Munroe Dominion / Port Morien Sylvia Nicholson, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 16th, 2021 at the Halifax Infirmary Hospital. Born in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Rosella (MacKay) Munroe. In her younger years, Sylvia was employed at Cadegan's fish plant. She also spent some time living in New York where she attended training for cosmetology. In doing so she would also help some of her fellow students, new to the English language, with their English studies. She became a Kinette member in the 70's when they opened the Kinsman and Kinette club in Dominion. Sylvia enjoyed many years as a member of Branch 78 Royal Canadian Legion in Dominion and was a member of their Ladies Auxiliary. It was there, she would be introduced to one of her favourite activities, darts. Not only did she play as part of a team in the league, she also played in many tournaments throughout the province as well as in a league at the Port Morien Legion. She also loved to knit and crochet when she wasn't playing bingo or baking. Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Jason), Michelle (Dale); stepsons, Kevin, Bruce (Lisa); stepdaughter, Tanya (Mark); grandchildren, Jeremy and Averie and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Sylvia was predeceased by her second husband, Neil "Buddy" Nicholson and her first husband, Ralph McLean, sisters; Murdena, Jeanette, Joyce, and Jessie in infancy, brothers, Duncan and Charles in infancy and a daughter in-law, Kelly.
