Obituary of Richard Thornton, Birch Grove

Richard Larry Thornton, age 69 died peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 17th, 2021. Born in Wuppertal, West Germany, he was the son of the late Kenneth Richard and Barbara (Brown)Thornton of England. Richard loved God and the Bible. He was a family man that took pride in self sufficiency. He enjoyed carpentry, and had a deep appreciation for nature and the bush life. Richard was actively involved in numerous charities helping the less fortunate, here and across the globe. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Solveig (Nilssen-Frigstad) Thornton, children, Melissa, Rebecca, Maru, Alex, Robby, Freya, Tasha, Madelaine, Elijah, Ezra and Jezy. Richard is also survived by his siblings, Nick, Anna, Jane and Amanda. He was loved and will be dearly missed. A burial will be held in St. Anne's Cemetery, Glace Bay.
