Obituary of Pauline (Usher) Gardiner, Gardiner Mines

It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that we the family of Pauline (Usher) Gardiner announce her passing on April 13th, 2021 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Pauline was born on January 25th, 1926 to the late Joseph and Margaret (Young) Usher. Mom was very involved with community activities. She worked at MacLeod’s Book Store in Sydney and the General Instruments Plant. Mom loved to travel, play darts, bowl, sew and tole paint. She also taught seamstress classes at Lakevale School on Grand Lake Road. Mom was a longtime member of St. James, St. Eugene’s and Immaculate Conception Choirs. She also sang with the Shenanigans Senior Singers. She is survived by daughters, Pat, Andrea, Helen (Al), sons, Ron (Bernie), Gary, Paul (Donna), sisters, Helen, Lena, Karen (Jack), brothers, Hazen (Faith), Bernard (Gail), Fred (Dianne), son in law, Jiggers, numerous, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Andrew, daughter, Sharon, brothers, William, Thomas “Buddy”, Greg, grandson, Allan and her son in law, John Michael. Donations can be made to Palliative Care, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Society. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport on Monday, April 19 at 11 am with Fr. Dan Boudreau officiating. Interment in St. James Cemetery, Gardiner Mines at a later date.
