Obituary of Mary MacAdam, Reserve Mines

We the family regret to announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother Mary MacAdam on May 17, 2021 at the age of 103 at her home. Born in Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia on December 20, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Flora (MacLean) McNeil. Mary is the last surviving member of her family. She was a faith filled member of St Jospeh’s Church, Reserve Mines. NS where she was a fiftieth (50) year member of the Catholic Women League, and a member of the Altar Society and as well as the Bereavement Committee. She is survived by her children, Maureen (Doug), Jim MacAdam (Glace Bay), Jean MacAdam (Calgary, AB), Bernie MacAdam (Ontario), Cathy MacAdam (at home) and Gerard MacAdam (Glace Bay). Mary is survived by her grandchildren, Glenn, Alanna and Lois (Eric) and great grandchildren, Dianna Marie and George William. Also surviving is a very dear and close friend Kay Morrison (Big Pond) as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Johnny, and her sisters, Josephine, Katie, Margaret O’Donnell (Jack), Sadie Parsons (Earl), Ella Gould (James), Theresa Woods (Tom), Florence “Cedes” Tobin (Lloyd), Gertie Gouthro (Pat), Sister Rita McNeil, Sisters of Charity Glace Bay, brothers, John Norman (Vick), Pius (Mary) and Joseph. Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a private mass at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines with an interment to follow in the parish cemetery with Father Dan Boudreau presiding. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, NS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
