Ervin Williams, New Waterford

Obituary of Ervin Williams, New Waterford

It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, poppy and grampy, Ervin Williams Sr. on May 31st, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Ervin will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life of 59 years, Marion (Springall); their three beautiful children, in which were his biggest accomplishments, Cindy (Glen), Darlene (Bernie) and Ervin Jr., all of New Waterford; his four granddaughters who were the light of his life, Tanya (Jason), Natasha (Joey), Nicole (Ryan) and Crystal (Albert), all of Alberta, and his nine great-grandchildren whom he adored with all his heart, Nevaeh, Myla, Cash, Kyptin, Bentley, Presley, Ryder, Hudson and Cruz. He was also survived by his brother, Archie (Sue); sister, Mary (Gary); brother, Michael (Bernice) and many nieces and nephews whom he shared many wonderful memories with over the years. Ervin was predeceased by his father and mother, Ervin and Angel Williams; father and mother-in-law, Dave and Murial Springall and brother, Charlie Williams. Ervin was one of a kind; his huge heart and infectious smile left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. He had everything he ever needed in life; his family. From the moment Ervin and Marion met they knew their love was everlasting and they went on to create the family of their dreams. Ervin was a hard worker who devoted 35 years of his life working underground in the mine which he thoroughly enjoyed. Ervin loved to spend his summers in Ingonish with his family and traveling to Florida with Marion to enjoy the sun and playing golf. His hole in one in Florida will never be forgotten, so never forget that little Ervin. He enjoyed watching hockey and was an avid Leafs fan. No matter who you talk to, if they knew him, they loved him. His quirky jokes and loving smile could never be taken from him, even in his last moments of life. The love he had for his family will never be forgotten because he gave us enough love to last a lifetime. Forever in our hearts. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home and Cremation Centre with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, River Ryan. Special thanks to VON, Hospice/Palliative Care, Basil R. and staff of McGillivray's for their care and compassion. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
