Obituary of Rosella 'Rose" Stevenson, Glace Bay

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rosella Stevenson at home on August 5, 2021. Born in Glace Bay on March 13,1929 she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (MacNeil) Connolly. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Chickie, Sarah, Buster, John and Tommie. Rose spent her early years in Table Head and always spoke fondly of her childhood there. She married the late Frederick Stevenson and together they made their home in New Aberdeen where they raised their four children. Rose is survived by her children, Elaine (Kent) Hayley, Brenda (Dave) Krewenki, Gary (Kim) and Michelle (Stephen) who resided with her and were her caregivers. Also surviving are grandchildren, Condea, Darla, Cheyne, Chad, Matthew, Mitchell and Kadie, great grandchildren, Zackery, Keagen, Kasen, Kyle, Rachel and Skylor; her sister, Shirley, brother-in-law, Bob (Sylvia) and many nieces and nephews. Rose was a quiet woman known for her beautiful smile. She loved going for car rides and listening to music. She had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor. She made many new friendships while attending the Adult Day Program the last number of years. Visitation is Tuesday, August 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in VJ McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral mass is Wednesday at 10 am in St Anne's Church, Glace Bay followed by burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Fr. Duaine Devereaux presiding. Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
