Mom and I were sad to hear of Johnny's passing. He was a good man and in Dad's words he was a prince of a guy and there was no problem he couldn't solve.

I was so very sorry to hear about Johnny’s passing. Although I didn’t see him very often as an adult, he was always a beautiful soul, a gentle easy going man. My sincere condolences to Anita and your children and Johnny’s siblings, my first cousins. The photo I have attached has Johnny in the first row sitting on the floor at a hockey game. My mother, Edna LeBlanc, had written that Johnny was about 7 years old at the time. I believe he may be on the far left, but sorry I don’t know for sure. He could also be on the far right. We remember Johnnie as a young man In South Bar.My sister Deanna was more in his age group.Dad was a friend of Harry's at the Steel Plant. Always talked to my Dad re:John's work and work ethic. We were saddened to hear of Johnny’s passing. We have many fond memories of Johnny; your husband, father, brother, friend, who was always willing to support my dad, Herbie and our family, with any projects (big or small) he/we needed Johnny’s expertise with. Johnny truly was a master craftsman. There was nothing he could not fix and there were many vehicles we owned that Johnny either repaired and/or painted. Our Dad could always count on Johnny no matter how busy Johnny was, he never let us down. We were blessed to have such a kind and caring man in our lives and you folks know that only too well. Dear Anita and family...I was saddened by the loss of my brother John. He was an amazing man, taught me about fixing cars as I would play by the garage at Mom& Dad's, gave me great insight into Canadian politics, and created some of the nicest inlay wood work at his home. You were both very kind parents, and because I was the youngest, I never had a chance to witness some of the tougher times the boys had with dad. But even as his executor for his will...John remained honest , generous, and very fair.
You all grew to be good, solid men, for which I thank God. I was meant to be a wanderer..and to leave Cape Breton for new challenges. But I am truly happy you are with Mama, Granny, Marty, Kevin, and my son Alexander James. We will all be together some day in heaven...because of the way mama taught all of us to help, and give others in need. I never forgot that lesson, and though I made mistakes when younger..I always continued to give, as I see in these memorials you did also. Much love to all of you..Bernie Martell Tarbet.
