Obituary of Mary Veronica "Bonnie" Seymour, Glace Bay

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Veronica “Bonnie” Seymour, age 87 on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021 at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay surrounded by her family. Born in Inverness and raised in Scotchtown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie (Copley) McInnis. In her early years, Bonnie was employed at General Instruments and later on at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay in the kitchen doing food preparation. She had a strong catholic faith and attended both St. Michael’s and Mt. Carmel Church in New Waterford and later on Immaculate Conception Church in Bridgeport. Bonnie enjoyed bingo and was also a Scottish dancer. She was a member of Scotchtown Pensioners Club. But mostly, she will be remembered as a caring and loving lady. She is survived by one daughter, Marie (Wayne-deceased) Morgan, four sons, William “Willie” (Lisa), Bernie (Kerrie), Darren (Kim) and Edward (Kim) Seymour. Bonnie is survived by her eleven grandchildren, Brett, Jeffrey, Justin, Wayne, Sheldon, Brittney, Matthew, Courtney in Australia, Rebecca, Stephen, Tyler and eight great grandchildren, Hayden, Liam, Jake, Amiah, Dylan, Allyson, Daniella and Nicholas. Besides her parents, Bonnie was predeceased by her husband, William “Bill” Seymour, daughter, Joanne, son in law, Wayne and daughter in law, Debbie. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service is Saturday, August 14th at 11 am in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. Burial will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Bonnie can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, ALS or Diabetes Foundation.
