Obituary of Leroy M. Devison, Glace Bay

Leroy Devison Glace Bay It is with deep sadness, that we announce the passing of Leroy Devison, age 81 on Tuesday, August 31st, 2021 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay and a life long resident of Table Head, Leroy was the son of the late Roderick “Rodie” and Violet (Moore) Devison. Leroy was formerly employed at Devco and the Town of Glace Bay in his earlier years. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, spending time in his yard with his cat and dog and cleaning his car. Da “Papa” will be missed by his sons, Troy (Pam), Shane, two daughters, Tanya (Blair) and Elaina (Sean). Also surviving are his grandchildren, Brandon, Josh, Jake, Dylan, Kian, Kaiya and his best buddies, Elroy MacDonald and Johnny Christoff. Besides his parents, Leroy was predeceased by one sister, Alice, five brothers, Jackie, Joey, Ronnie, Frank, Phonse as well as his great friend, Peter Currie. The family cannot express enough gratitude to the Harbourstone Staff for their kindness given to our dad. A special thank you to the amazing staff at the Cancer Center (Chemo, Radiation, Hematology, Medical Day and our Community Palliative Care Team). Cremation has taken place. The funeral service officiated by Fr. Duaine Devereaux is Friday, September 3rd at 11 am in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Interment to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations in memory of Leroy may be made to the Cancer Center.
