Like many Cape Bretoners, my family relocated to Alberta. and every trip “home” was not complete without a trip to see Mick. He not only had the most amazing product but also he remembered each of us, as well as friends from Louisiana. He would always ask about my children (by name) if they weren’t with me. Not once have I ever heard an unkind word out of his mouth. I feel Mick enjoyed seeing us as much as we did him. But, It wasn’t only my family. Mick was genuinely happy to see absolutely each one of his friends and customers. Mickey Yorke definitely made this world a better place. He will be missed by all lucky enough to have known him.
Sincerest condolences from the Wareham, MacIsaac and Hanrahan families.
May Mick’s family take comfort in knowing just how much he was loved and his business regarded as a fixture in the community of Glace Bay.

So very deeply saddened for your loss. I’ll always remember the first time I went to the chip wagon and saw “Mick” serving up the fries. What fell out of my mouth was, “what are YOU doing here?” How stupid! We had a little chat about that and a nice catch-up on the family. I was so happy to know that he was now the owner of the wagon and to hear everyone was doing well. Growing up with this family gave me some great memories, one of them was calling for Brenda to go to the movies or skating and putting up with Mick while I waited for her. He always gave me a hard time but it was always in fun. This is a great loss for his family and our community. Rest In Peace old friend.
