Obituary of Irene MacNeil, New Waterford

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Irene (White) MacNeil, October 24, 2021 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Waterford, December 21, 1938, she is the daughter of the late George and Vina White. Irene was quiet in nature but sure loved a good joke. Her family meant the world to her. She loved being home with her crosswords watching her game shows. She will always be remembered and cherished for her cooking and baking; especially her famous cabbage rolls and cinnamon rolls. Irene enjoyed her bingo games with her son, Ozzie. She looked forward to Saturday nights with her lifelong friends at the card club. On weekends, she loved going for long drives to get her special treat of a pineapple sundae. Irene is survived by her doting husband of 65 years, Ozzie; son, Ozzie Jr.; daughters, Marlene, Lynn(Glenn), Kim (Jason), Tracy (Tony) and special grandson, Matthew, who will always be in her heart; grandchildren, Haley, Cole, Gordie, Grant, Samantha, Gavin, Holly, Travis, Courtney, Connor, Tony and Abby and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Middy. Irene is predeceased by two sons in infancy (John, Oswald), son, Gordie and daughter, Shelley; siblings, Wally, Russell, Sen, Billy, Herb, Sonny, special brother, Ray, Dorothy, Dora, Lorraine (Sister). There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private family funeral service will be held at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford, with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, River Ryan. We would like to thank Dr. Lange and Dr. Lowry and the staff of Medical Floor at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital with a special thank you to Shannon Odo for your exemplary and compassionate care of our mother in her time of need. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you display an act of kindness in her memory. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
