Dear Chrissie, Kelly Jane, Nancy, Paul and Geraldine,
God bless Jigger. We were boy-hood friends at St. Anne's and participated in the various sports programs where "Jigger" excelled especially at basketball. Little did I know that we were, in fact cousins - both sides Phalens and Curries. When Jigger apprenticed at the Dominion Coal Company Machine Shops, after he completed High School, he worked and learned alongside my father Bernard Duncan. My dad told me years later that Gerard "Jigger" Phalen was the smartest and best apprentice that he ever had the pleasure of tutoring as a Machinist. When he was appointed to the Senate of Canada by Prime Minister Chretien, Jigger invited me to his Parliament Hill reception to which I greatly accepted his invite. Jigger and Chrissie have been very helpful over the years providing "Vital Statistics" of our forebears. After 54 years of research I am on the home stretch with my book of 345 Currie-Phalen et al pages. I am sure Jigger has already registered with St. Peter to play B Ball in the HBL (Heaven Basketball League).
