He then went on to work in construction where he was foreman or supervisor at several sites. Richard was also a lobster fisherman for almost 40 years. He was Harbourmaster in New Waterford and was instrumental in getting the harbour built up at the Barachois. Work was truly his life. Aside from this, Richard enjoyed being with family; namely his grand and great-grandchildren. He also loved getting away to his place in Loch Lomond. Surviving are his wife, Pauline (Tomiczek); sons, Stanley (Annette) Power, and Patrick (Lisa) Power, both of New Waterford; brother, Johnny Power, St. Joseph du Moine; grandchildren, Tammy, Kristopher, Jonathon (Brianna), Brianne (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Piper, Xavier, and Lomand. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Laura Fortune and Bertha Power; brother, Raymond. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private funeral service will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, New Waterford, with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
