Obituary of Mona Hilda (Major) Wadden, Glace Bay

Mona Hilda (Major) Wadden, RN Glace Bay It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Mona Hilda Wadden, age 82 on Thursday, November 4th, 2021 at the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Norris Pt., Bonne Bay, NL, Mona was the daughter of the late Edward and Jessie (Hedge) Major. She was a dedicated and compassionate registered nurse who was employed at hospitals in NB, NS, NL and Ontario. Mona was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay as well as the treasurer for the ACW (Anglican Church Women). She enjoyed playing bridge, cards, oil painting, rug hooking, crafts and cooking. While living in Jamaica, Mona was a member of the Canadian Women’s Association (Canadians Working Abroad). Her kind and caring personality were with her all her life, she was a, “Nurse to the end.” Mona is survived by her loving husband, Murray Wadden, two daughters, Raelene Kennedy (Scott), Joanne Wadden (Doug), four sons, Darrell (Karolyn), Mark, Stewart (Dennis), Glenn (Niki), three sisters, Minette, Maxine, Ina, two brothers, Carl, Kevin, numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mona was predeceased by a brother, Roland Major. Cremation has taken place under the direction of VJ McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 27th, 2021 at 2 PM in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Rev. Dorothy Miller officiating. A reception will take place at Branch 3, RCL from 4-6 PM.
