Debra Johnson, Glace Bay

Obituary of Debra Ann "Debbie" Johnson, Glace Bay

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of an amazing woman, Debra Ann “Debbie” Johnson. Debbie was a caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on Tuesday, November 9th, 2021 at the age of 68. Debbie was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia to the loving parents Aubrey and Barbara (McCabe) Cameron on October 1, 1953. Debbie spent her life as a devoted mother and grandmother and no words can describe how much she will be missed. She was a wonderful person filled with love and compassion for those who had the great opportunity of knowing her. Her door was always open whether for a chat or you needed a place to stay. While she was the biological mother of 3, she was the surrogate to many. She had a huge heart and always put others before herself. If you had the chance to talk to her you knew she was so proud of her grandchildren. She loved to listen to Ethan play his instruments and talk about his future, her long chats with her “Emma girl” talking about everything and nothing at the same time and spending countless hours talking to Naomi on the phone wishing she was closer to snuggle her. As kids before bed we would always say,” Goodnight, see you tomorrow and I love you”. So, “Goodnight mom, while we won't see you tomorrow, we will love you forever”. Debbie was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Cameron, brother, John Cameron and the father of her children and dearest friend, Dempsey Johnson. She will forever be remembered by her beloved children, Daniel (Marlene), Clint (Shannon) and Dawn (Jeff) and her adored grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Walter and Naomi Cameron. She was survived by her loving father, Aubrey, loved sisters, Joanne (David), Karen (Henry), Moureen, Wendy and Sheila and her brothers, Billy (Judy), Jimmy, Stephen, Bruce Cameron and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Golden Girls Care Service for not only the care they provided but the smiles and laughs they would bring to her. Thank you for all you do. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Glace Bay. The funeral mass to celebrate the life of this incredible woman will be held on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 at 10 am in Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding.
