Obituary of Roberta Marion McEachern, New Waterford
It is with great sorrow that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of our mom, Roberta Marion (Walters) McEachern, at the New Waterford Hospital following a brief illness at the age of 94.
Mom was born to her parents George and Myrtle (Piercey) Walters in Fortune Bay, Newfoundland, one of seven children. Upon completion of high school, she moved to New Waterford where she met our Dad, Dave McEachern. Together they built their lives and raised a large family. Upon Dad’s early passing, Mom became the matriarch of the McEachern family, which grew to five generations. Throughout the years, her love, support and complete devotion to us children gave each of us a solid foundation and great respect for her determination to provide us with a good life and an awesome mom.
Mom was a very active lady within the community. She was a lifetime member and past president of New Waterford Legion. She was a great cook and made the best bread ever.
Mom is survived by her sister, Carrie Smith of Grand Bank, Newfoundland; daughters, Helena Campagnoni (Bruce), Bernadette Leverton, Leah (Myles) Lowe; sons, Gordon (Dottie), Paul “Tuddie” (Brenda), Byron, Wayne (Linda), George (Jane), Jerry, Angus (Michelle), Frank (Melanie), and daughter-in-law, Dolly; 28 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Dave; sisters, Maud King and Ida Walters; brothers, Jim, Frank, and George Walters; sons, David “Butch” and Leo, and daughters, Theresa McEachern, and Caroline Perin; sons-in-law, Lee Campagnoni and Robert Leverton; granddaughter, Loralei Leverton and daughter-in-law, Ann McEachern.
A special thanks to the second-floor medical staff of the New Waterford Hospital, Dr. Jennifer Lange, New Waterford Home Care, and VON. A special thank you to her kind neighbour, Tonya.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 6-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford.
