Obituary of Dolores (MacNeil) Marsh, Reserve Mines

Dolores (MacNeil) Marsh, age 86 of Reserve Mines, died at her residence on Sunday, December 12th, 2021 with her family by her side. Born in Reserve Mines on March 9, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Imelda (Hill) MacNeil. Dolores worked for many years at the Cape Breton Post, Glace Bay. For over 30 years, she worked alongside her husband, Dave, in their own print shop at their residence. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Reserve Mines where she was choir organist for over 60 years. Dolores was the last surviving member of her immediate family and lived in the family home in Reserve Mines her entire life. Survivors include nieces and nephews, Debi (Bill) Freeborne, Baddeck; Bruce (Elgin) MacNeil, Dartmouth; Elaine (Bill) MacLean, Moncton; Lloyd MacNeil, Howie Centre; David (Shelley) McNeil, Upper Tantallon; and Joanne MacNeil, Reserve Mines, as well as grand-nephews and niece, Connor (Tabatha), Daniel, Breton, Sean, Nathan, Anna and David. She will also be sadly missed by her many cousins and friends. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Dave Marsh; her brothers, Michael B. McNeil; Dave (Gubby) McNeil; her infant brother, Douglas; her sister-in-law, Rose (Hawrylak) McNeil; her nephew, Michael G. MacNeil and an infant grandniece, Taylor. Honouring the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 17th, 2021 at 11 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines with burial in the parish Cemetery, MacLeod’s Crossing. Fr. Dan Boudreau officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Proof of double vaccination, photo & masks required.
