With great sadness, we, the family of Lorraine McKinnon, 87 of Glace Bay, announce her passing on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, Lorraine was a daughter of the late Simon and Margaret (MacLeod) McLean of Dominion.
During her working life, she was employed in retail sales. Dancing and shooting darts were her favorite pastimes. She also loved spending time with family and visiting the old homestead in Dominion.
Surviving are her daughters, Charlaine (Michael) of Reserve Mines, Melva of Glace Bay; son Alan of Glace Bay; sister, Audrey (Gerard) McNeil of Dominion; brother, Simon (Norma) McLean of Glace Bay; grandchildren, Darren (Denise) Chiasson, Shauna (Jason) Chiasson, Laura (Mitch) MacDonald, Rodney (Dawn) Blanchard, DA (Blayne) Blanchard, Katie McKinnon and Shane McKinnon; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her longtime partner, Alan “Sonny” MacMullin; her former husband, Charles McKinnon; daughter, Laurie Blanchard; son, Francis McKinnon and a granddaughter, Brett McKinnon and 15 siblings.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Glace Bay on Tuesday, December 28 at 11:00 am with Father Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment in St. Anthony's Cemetery at a later date.
