Obituary of Laura Theresa McCarthy

McCARTHY (Brenton), Laura Theresa - Age 91, Kentville, formerly of Glace Bay, died on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Born in Newfoundland, Laura spent most of her life caring for and nurturing her loved ones. She loved preparing meals and having family get-togethers. Her passion for cooking led to her tenure at Bill McLeod's Nursing Home, Glace Bay, where residents enjoyed her delicious cuisine and great sense of humor. Laura is survived by her daughter, Yvonne (Gordon), Dartmouth; sons, Barry and Vincent, Kentville; Jimmy, Glace Bay; granddaughter; Jill, Dartmouth; grandsons, Jason (Tanessa), Vancouver Island; Christopher, Halifax; Nathan and Dylan, Kentville; Allan, Glace Bay; great-grandchildren, Savonnah, Sierra, Shey and Terek. Laura was predeceased by her husband, Charles; grandson, Brent; three sisters and a brother. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. We extend deep gratitude to her niece, Sandra, Newfoundland; and her daughters, Meghan and Heather for their love and devotion for their aunt Laura throughout her life. Our sincere appreciation goes out to Sherry and all the staff of Orchard Court Nursing Home, Kentville (where Laura resided in recent years) for their kind, friendly and compassionate care during her stay.
