Obituary of Shirley Marie Roach, Glace Bay

Shirley Marie Roach Glace Bay It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Marie Roach, age 82 on Friday, January 21st, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Glace Bay, Shirley was the daughter of the late John Thomas & Florence (Strang) MacDonald. She loved baking and preparing meals and spending time with her family. Shirley is survived by her children, Anthony (Tammy) Roach, Peter (Cheryl) Roach, Gerry (Heather) Muise, Vince (Lynn) Muise, Helen (Brian) Hanson, Michelle MacNeil, stepdaughter, Brenda, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren whom she adored. Also surviving is her brother, Basil MacDonald, sisters, Evelyn Cole, Maureen (Brian) Corbett, Geraldine (Tony) Chiola, sisters in law, Marguerite MacDonald, Betty MacDonald and Pricilla MacDonald, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Peter Anthony Roach, brothers, Lloyd MacDonald, Greg MacDonald, Gerry MacDonald, Harold MacDonald, Eugene MacDonald, sister, Joan O'Brien, brothers in law, Dave Cole, Henry O'Brien, sisters in law, Effie MacDonald and Milley MacDonald and her son in law, Hughie MacNeil. A private funeral service will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay with Fr. Dan Boudreau presiding. A special thank you to Shirley’s daughter in law, Tammy for all of her compassionate care. Memorial donations in memory of Shirley may be made to Palliative Care.
