Obituary of Mary Marjorie "Marge" Watts, New Waterford

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected yet peaceful passing of Mary Marjorie (Marge) Watts on Feb 27th, 2022 at the Cove Guest Home in Sydney, Marge was born on August 1st 1930 in Stellarton, N.S. to parents William and Marjorie (Miller) Livingston. Besides her parents, Marge was predeceased by the love of her life, Harty in 1994 and her cherished son, Billy in 2019. Marge was the last surviving member of her immediate family having also been predeceased by sister, Jean; brothers, Fred, Allister and William. Marge dedicated her life to service, God, Family and Community were her greatest passions. Her career in Nursing spanned some 34 years as an Registered Nurse (RN) both at Sydney City Hospital and N.W. Consolidated. Church was very important to her and she was very active in both Calvin United and The Salvation Army here in New Waterford. A devoted member of Calvin UCW she received their Lifetime Membership award in 2006. She served as an Elder for many years at Calvin, she assisted with funeral receptions, fundraisers and Rotary. After Harty's passing she was able to continue actively serving in both because of her best friend, Audrey Mercer. She was a great support to Marge over the years. Thank you for that. She also enjoyed the many friends she made at Aging Gracefully. Marge loved nothing better than a good conversation and a hot cup of tea with family and friends. In her spare time Marge was a master at the art of knitting. She spent countless hours enjoying her craft often under the watchful eye of favorite Poodles, Tippy or Bonnie. Many newborn left the hospital adorned in one of her many gifts made with love. I know my sons Chris and Tyler were among those lucky babies. Marge is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as her chosen family. Her chosen daughter, Linda Drake; Kaye and Carl Kanne, their daughter, Kay and Andrew DeGiobbi and family. Thank you Kay for your nightly call from Alberta to do tuck ins; Marge looked so forward to them, and Debbie Gosbee your weekly cards and hand written messages of love and support always made her heart smile. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A service will be held on March 26th, at 3 p.m. at Calvin United Church with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Masks are recommended. Following the service a private Family committal will be held in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown. Afterwards, a reception will be held in the Reverend Duncan Roach Fellowship Room where we will enjoy a good hot cup of tea and celebrate Marge. Family flowers only. Memorial Donations may be made to Calvin United Church or a charity of your choosing. Special thanks to The Cove Guest home, especially the staff of the Orchard Unit. You went above and beyond with the care, support and most of all love that you provided Marge with in the last 2 ½ years. She loved you too, and to her dear roommates, Theresa and Helen, she loved you both dearly. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart.
