Obituary of Robert Cameron

Robert ‘Bobby’ Cameron New Waterford It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Robert John Cameron, 86, of New Waterford on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney with his loving family by his side. Born in Hartford Conn. U.S.A, on July 2, 1930, he was a son of the late Angus and Dot (Brown) Cameron. Bobby was a very kind and fun loving man, he had a joke for everybody. He was an avid bingo player. Bobby will be missed by all who knew him. Bobby was employed as a coal miner, working in No. 12 and Lingan Colliery. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Sheila (O’Shea) Cameron; son, Keith, River Ryan, daughters, Isheil, Shea (Darrell), all of New Waterford; grandsons, Robert (Jenn) AB, Christopher, Toronto; granddaughter; Shaylene, AB; great grandson, Nolan, AB; special cousin and best friend, Wally Cameron. Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his sister, Doris Landry, brother, Gerry Cameron and grandson, Brian ‘Gimpy’ Cameron. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Cremation to follow. A luncheon will take place at St. Leonard's Parish Hall on Convent Street. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
