Obituary of Elmire Elizabeth Dingwall: South Bar, New Waterford

DINGWALL, Elmire Elizabeth South Bar/New Waterford It is with great sadness that we wish to announce the passing of our loving mother, Elmire Dingwall (Chiasson) on March 8, 2022 at the age of 86. She spent her last five years at Harbourstone Enhanced Care. Mom was born on July 24, 1935 and was the 15th and last child of JJ Chiasson and Elizabeth Deveaux of New Waterford. Mom married our dad, Ronnie Dingwall, in 1956 in Toronto. But they soon returned to their beloved Cape Breton and built their home in South Bar. Mom was well known for her wonderful hospitality to her family and many friends. Also for her fabulous cooking. They enjoyed hosting many parties at their home over the years. Elmire was predeceased by her husband, Ronnie in 2017. Also by her brothers, Armie, Rene, Bert, and Elias; sisters, Clara Shomph, Lena Ballentyne, Adelaide Friedrich and Corrine LeBlanc; several siblings in infancy. Mom is survived by one sister, Velma Perisse, Connecticut USA. She is also survived by daughter, Trisha Racki , Halifax (Steve Racki passed 2012) and daughter, Rhonda Wrobleski of South Bar; son-in- law, Carl Wrobleski Sr.; Four grandchildren, Angela Wrobleski, Carl Wrobleski (Maureen) and Erica O’Neill (Ian), and Kyle Racki (Christina Morgan). Elmire has seven great-grandchildren, Micah, Ty and Theo Racki. Logan and Kendall Hynes, and Jenna and Gage Wrobleski. Mom was dearly loved and respected by all who knew her. Her zest for life was shown in her love of music and dancing. She was also famous for her Acadian Meat Pies. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a private Funeral Mass in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, 3180 Mount Carmel Ave.,with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Immediately following the Mass, there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Army, Navy, Air Force, Unit 217, 495 Smith St./ Wilson Ave., New Waterford on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. All are welcome to enjoy light refreshments with the family. Masks are mandatory. Special thanks go to the wonderful staff on the Miners Ave. Unit of Harbourstone Enhanced Care. Family flowers only please.
