Obituary of Alan Roy McKinnon, Glace Bay

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Alan McKinnon, age 56 on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 at the CBRH, Palliative Care Unit, Sydney. Born July 21st, 1965 in Glace Bay, Alan was the son of the late Charles “Briggin” and Lorraine (MacLean) McKinnon. He is survived by his daughter, Katie (Ryan), son, Shane (Lindsey) and their mother, Gordana, three grandchildren, sisters, Melva and Charlaine (Mike) Chiasson, many nieces, nephews and extended family. Alan was predeceased by his step father, Sonny MacMullin, brother, Francis, sister, Laurie and niece, Brett. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday morning, May 16th from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Fr Norman MacPhee presiding. Following the service, the burial for Alan and his mother, Lorraine, who passed away in December of 2021 will take place in St Anthony’s Cemetery, No. 11, Glace Bay.
