Obituary of Theresa (Sloan) Burt, R.N., Sydney

With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and friend, Theresa Elizabeth Burt, age 74 on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 in the Glace Bay Hospital, Glace Bay, N.S. Theresa was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Elizabeth (Petrie) Sloan. Theresa was born and raised in Dominion, later moving to Sydney. Theresa exuded empathy and compassion and had a real sense of humanity that led her into a successful and fulfilling career in nursing where she was a RN supervisor in the Glace Bay Region. Nursing was second nature to Theresa because of her love of caring for people in need. After Theresa's retirement she enjoyed going for daily walks with her husband Clem and dog Duncan. Theresa and Clem spent much of their days with their children and grandchildren who she adored, Kyle, Ashton & Brendon Brna, Gwen & Brynn Burt. Theresa is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 55 years, Clem Burt, her beloved sons, Robert Joseph and Kenny (Alicia) Burt, as well as by her loving daughter, Suzanne (Frank) Brna, her beautiful sisters, Mary (Blair) MacIntyre, Diane (Russel) Gardiner, Jessi Sloan (deceased) and her dearest brother, Johnnie (Lois) Sloan. Our deepest gratitude is extended to the caring staff at Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Clinic and Palliative Care Unit. Theresa was very fortunate to spend her final days in the Glace Bay Hospital where she had exceptional care by her nurses and doctors. There will be a mass to celebrate Theresa's life and strong faith at the Church of Immaculate Conception, Bridgeport, Nova Scotia at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 21st, 2022 with Fr.
