I grew up in New Aberdeen alongside the O'Briens and I am just hearing about this now. So sorry to hear about such a great guy gone so soon. I hadn't seen Greg is ages but I will always remember his great smile and beaming personality. So many people have made the effort to send their condolences and that's no surprise. Glad to hear he maintained such a great attitude into his retirement which was sadly, so short-lived. So long to a beautiful soul. Sincerest condolences to his close family and friends.

Our deepest condolences to Greg’s family & friends.
Greg was one of a kind & a very memorable person. I had the pleasure of working with Greg at the VG. It was my first job out of school & Greg had this uncanny ability to appear at the perfect moment to offer a helping hand, a witty comment or a stick of gum. May his memory & wonderful qualities be a blessing to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Our PACU Family has been chatting, first in disbelief and then sharing great, warm memories of our Greg.

Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Greg O’Brien. He visited us many times on P.E.I. and we loved every minute of his visits. He loved sitting outside in the early morning on the deck with Honey our Golden Retriever. Honey was very fond of Greg and never missed a chance to go outside with him. He always called her a beautiful girl and they listened to the tunes together outside from the radio. Greg enjoyed his visits to the Island as much as we did when he came over. Honey has since passed over The Rainbow Bridge and I hope somehow they meet again and listen to all the tunes they can handle. RIP Greg in heaven.
Your PE.I. friends. Gail and Carol

I knew Greg for many years and he was a genuinely nice man with a great sense of humour and a pure kind heart. We both worked at the VG site when we first met and often in the evening shifts we would chat and laugh together. He always made me feel that life was to be enjoyed and he certainly lived it to the fullest. After I left the VG, I would see him on the street as he was walking to the HI or just taking a walk in the South End. We would always hug and chat for a bit and I always walked away feeling happy. I am so very sorry to hear today that he has passed away and the world is less bright without him in it. My condolences to his family and close friends. Rest in peace, dear sweet Greg.
