Obituary of Brian McIntyre, Glace Bay

It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Brian McIntyre, age 77 on Friday, June 24, 2022, at the An Cala Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Glace Bay, on March 19, 1945, Brian was the son of the late Ignatius “Iggie” and Mary (Francis) McIntyre.

There was nothing Brian liked better than an interesting conversation and many debates with friends; talking sports especially his beloved Montreal Canadians and his New York Yankees. Brian was an active hockey player, soft ball player and enjoyed volunteering at the Glace Bay Food Bank and spending time chasing the winning numbers of Lotto 649, scratch tickets and the excitement of winning big at poker machines.

He was once employed and enjoyed his work at the “Famous” Iggies Tavern.

Brian is survived by his son Ricky (Mary Lynn), daughter Susan (Neil) and grandchildren, Andrew, Keegan, Taylor, Nicholas and Morgan.

He is also survived by brothers Gerald (Ruth), Michael “Red Mick”, Stewart (Ann Marie) and his sister Lima (Kevin) and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Brian was predeceased by his wife Anne Louise (MacDonald) McIntyre, son Stephen, sisters Eileen, Bernice, Ignace; brothers Billy, John and Joe.

Brian will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to sincerely thank Mike McDonough for being there every step of the way; your caring and kindness ways made Brian’s life much easier………THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to many healthcare providers who compassionately cared for Brian during the past couple of years. Special thanks to Dr. Jamie MacLean, VON and Hospice/Palliative Care Cape Breton.

Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022 at 11:00 am followed by a reception, all in V.J. Mc McGillivray Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Deacon Shawn Bigley will officiate the service.
