I remember Mr Gallant visiting my father (Freddie) and them sitting on the veranda having grand talks about the coal mine, hockey and local issues, just enjoying one another's company as they sat there for seemingly hours. Gerard: It was with Sadness that I read your father's obituary in this morning's Herald. He sure lived a full life. I don't know if you remember me but we met on the neck of land leading to Cheticamp Island ner land which had originally belonged to Marguerite Gallant and now belonged to you. I owned a lot next door.After much talking about land ownership, you indicated you were on your way to celebrate your father's 90th birthday. Dear Charlie, Yvonne, and Family, Please accept both Penny's and my sincere condolences on the loss of your father Charlie. I felt that I knew him from all the poignant and heartwarming stories you brought to all of us each year in our annual migration to the Bras D'or Lakes. I always kind of felt that he was a 7th member of our annual trip, sitting or standing off stage and taking in the conversations almost like an offstage character in a Shakespearean Play. It was a beautiful obituary, and it not only portrayed the deep love that you all had not only for him but for each other. I don't think that I ever met Danny, but in some small way I will miss him because he was so much a part of your life and you always brought his spirit and his humour with you whenever we would gather. We live on Church Street near your old apartment (225 Queen Street) It is m=named after HA Johnson. The Cobequid housing authority have their offices on the first floor.
