Obituary of Mitchie Rich, New Waterford
It is with deepest sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Mitchie Winnifred Rich, 76, on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, after a brave battle with cancer.
Mitchie was born in Springdale, Newfoundland to Angus William and Fanny Amy Jane Taylor.
After high school, she began working with the Canadian National Telecommunications office in Springdale, NL, and later moved to Sydney, NS, where she worked at Zellers. She later started a new career as a Personal Care Worker at the Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford, NS, for just under 20 years.
In 1967, Mitchie met Wayne Rich and they wed in 1973, going on to have three children, Debbie Rich, Darren Rich, and Jason Rich.
Mitchie was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who always thought of others before herself and she made sure her home was filled with warmth and kindness. Cooking and baking came naturally to her and she enjoyed feeding her family and friends delicious dishes and treats. She was a passionate quilter and enjoyed her time with the Coal Town Girls Quilting group. Mitchie could often be found walking with her friend, Raylene, or at the family summer home in River Denys, NS. Mitchie also enjoyed her membership with the Calvin United Church Women.
Mitchie touched so many lives and we will all miss her dearly. She loved keeping in touch with countless relatives and friends and enjoyed hearing their stories and sharing her own.
