Obituary of Margaret Mary MacLeod

Margaret Mary MacLeod 87, New Waterford Margaret Mary MacLeod, age 87, formerly of New Waterford, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, Sydney. Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Daniel "Piper Dan" and Mary (MacDonald) MacLeod. Margaret was a former member of St. Agnes Church. She loved to dance and listen to Scottish violin music. She is survived by one daughter, Anne Marie (MacLeod) MacMullin, Glace Bay, one sister, Christina McKenzie (William "Bill"- Deceased), Sydney, one brother, Raymond MacLeod (Liz-Deceased), New Waterford, two grandchildren, Kelly, Ian (Cynthia), six great grandchildren, Alex, Kyle, Cody, Myles, Kenzie, Adelyn and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her long time companion, Joe Petrie, three sisters, Theresa MacLeod, Elizabeth Doucette, Sarah Gallagher, four brothers, Michael, Cecil, Danny and Archie. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 12 (noon) until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., all in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial at a later date in St. Agnes Cemetery with her sister Theresa who passed away on July 5, 1953.
