Donald Lewis Dunlop, having had many adventures in his 93 years, passed on to his next great adventure on November 3rd, 2022 at the Glace Bay Hospital.

Donald Leaves behind his daughters, Louise (Stephen) Hannon, Donna (Kenneth) MacDonald, Cindy (Mark) Gifford and Cathy Ann, ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as his beloved sister, Mary and many nieces and nephews.

Donald was happiest surrounded by nature. He loved and was a very skilled fisher, hunter, metal detector, and explorer. In the Army he was a sharp shooter. In the workplace he was a masterful welder and an effective security guard. In the pool hall he might have been referred to as a "shark" in his younger days.

But most impressive was Donald’s abilities as a self-taught musician. He had only to hear a song once to be able to play it perfectly. He enjoyed nothing more than to pick and strum his guitar to an audience or with friends and family.  His extraordinary talent brought joy to many people.

Donald was blessed with many wonderful care providers throughout the community , New Dawn and the Golden Girls. Be assured that he truly appreciated each of you. The quality of his life was enhanced by your kind, respectful care and your trustworthy friendships. He and his family will be forever grateful.

Special thanks also to the VON’s, the staff at Housing and the staff at Glace Bay Hospital, especially to the nurses who helped bring him comfort and made sure he was not alone when he passed.
