Obituary of Adeline (Lockman) Bohonos, Edmonton, Glace Bay

On October 16, 2022, Adeline Bohonos (nee Lockman), came to the end of her life’s journey at the age of 92.  Those of us who were part of her journey were blessed beyond measure.  She was loved and cherished by her son, Richard; daughter, Kim Regan; grandchildren, Connor (Arielle) Regan, Bailey Regan, and sweet little great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Aubrey Regan.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Beverly Lockman and brother-in- law Peter Bohonos. She will also be missed by many extended family and friends.

Adeline has now been reunited with her loving husband of 62 years, Walter Bohonos; her parents, Richard and Annie Catherine Lockman (Dickson), as well as brothers; Bill, Sam, Ike, Donald, Dave and Doug; and sisters, Lee, Viola and Florence.

Adeline’s journey began in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on May 11, 1930.  She was the second to youngest child and was raised by hard-working and loving parents.  She left home at 22 and headed for Toronto where she lived with three girlfriends.  After a few years in Toronto, she moved to Calgary where she met and married the love of her life, Walter.  She and Walter eventually moved their little family to Edmonton.  She was a stay-at-home mother for many years but eventually went to work in the retail industry.  She had many hobbies throughout her life – curling, square dancing and bowling to name a few.  She was also an avid reader.

Adeline was lively and quick-witted.  She loved to have fun and some of her favourite moments were spent with her three sisters.  She was deeply devoted to her husband and children and could never get enough of her two grandchildren.  Her door was always open and she would stop anything she was doing in exchange for a visit along with a cup of tea and a cookie.  She was a good listener and always had words of wisdom to share.

Her journey on this earth has come to an end but the essence of her loving and beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her.

As per Adeline’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Edmonton.

Memorial donations may be made in Adeline’s honour to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta.
