Obituary of Shawn Joseph MacDonald, Glace Bay, St. Thomas, ON

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Shawn MacDonald, age 45 formerly of Glace Bay on February 22nd, 2023 in St. Thomas, Ontario.

He was the son of Bernadette Bresolin (Louie) and the late Joseph Gouthro.

Shawn’s passion and mechanical talents gave his projects new life, bringing him great joy. From the age of 13, Shawn walked through life battling type 1 diabetes and in the end this terrible disease took his life. He was the kindest and most caring person anyone had the privilege of knowing.

Left to mourn are his mother Bernadette (Louie), brothers, Bryson, Dion, special nephew, Colby, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Shawn had a special bond with his aunts, Sheila and Angie and his cousin and best friend, Jason.

Besides his father, Shawn was predeceased by his grandparents, Archie & Rita MacDonald, Joe & Kay Gouthro.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Diabetic Association.

Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of Shawn’s life and a reception will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
