Obituary of James Aubrey Boozan

James Aubrey 'Mick' Boozan, age 77 of Glace Bay, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late James A. and Jennie (McEwan) Boozan. Mick was a coal miner for 31 years. He was an avid bowler, baseball player and in later life a golfer. Mick enjoyed working with stained glass and sitting on the front deck reading.In his youth, for several years, Mick was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. His grandchildren were his pride and joy; especially his great grandson, Beau Aubrey. Mick is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Eleanor (Martin) Boozan, daughter, Lori (Terry), son, Carey (Valerie), sister, Audrey Burke (Pat), brothers, Billie (Ann), Andy (Yvonne) Boozan, brother in law, Lloyd Layes, two grandchildren, Carey (Kaite), Whitney (Daniel), great grandson, Beau Aubrey, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mick was predeceased by 5 sisters, Margie Turner (Hardy), Mary Kilgar, Edie Hogg, Jean Williamson, and Alma Layes. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. , all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Fr. Jake Andrea officiating. Interment will be at a later date in St. John's Cemetery. Donations in memory of Mick may be made to the Chrildren's Wish Foundation or a charity of choice.
