Obituary of Wilma Ann 'Billie' Borden, New Waterford
We are saddened to announce the peaceful death of our mother Wilma “Billie” Ann (MacNeil) Borden on April 20th, 2023 at her home in the Maple Hill Manor.
Born in New Waterford on February 25th, 1938 to the late Augustus “Gus” and Pearl (Heffernan) MacNeil.
Billie was a graduate of Mt St Bernard College (St Francis Xavier University). She was a lover of music, travel and an avid crafter. She loved to joke and enjoyed a good laugh. Billie volunteered with the Coal Bowl Classic and the Joy Program. She was employed for many years in the field of continuing care and enjoyed her time as a tour guide showing people our beautiful island.
Billie is survived by her daughter, Ardith (Greg) Darling and son, Lennie (Janet) Borden. She is also survived by her only sister, Lorna Corbett.
Billie has five grandchildren who she loved dearly; Deanna (Shaun), Jarett (Melanie), Christa (Jonathan), Meagan (Jamie) and Kathleen (Winston); great-grandchildren, Borden, Jameson, Sadie, Valie, Finley, Seumas, Ronan and Jessilyn. She is also survived by her niece and nephews.
Billie was predeceased by her parents; niece, Lynn MacIsaac and nephew, Jimmy Corbett.
Special thanks to the staff at Maple Hill Manor for their kindness and care to her. She appreciated each and every one of you.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 24th at 1 p.m. with Father Godwin Obike officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery with a reception to follow in the funeral home.
