Obituary of Caleb Malachy Gillis, Lingan

In this time of horrific pain and loss, with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved boy, Caleb Malachy Gillis of Lingan, on May 25, 2023 due to a motor vehicle accident.

Caleb was unconditionally loved by his parents, Dawn (Gillis) and Jason Doyle, as well as his biological father, David (Mary Elizabeth Boone) King.

Caleb is devastatingly missed by his Partners in Mischief, his older sisters, Morgyn and Gabrielle (Cody Phillips), also by his step-siblings, Regan and Brennan Doyle, and by his half-brother, Shea King.

Caleb loved life. He loved spending time with family and his many, many friends, whether that was dancing at the Radio Club or shooting a game of pool. Caleb always wanted to make people smile and all too frequently put others before himself. Caleb always had a kind word for everyone, often played the mediator in his family, and was fiercely protective of those he loved. Caleb had the biggest heart of anyone we have ever known. Caleb spent the last few years working as a Traffic Control Protector with Safety First. He loved his job and was very proud of his achievements within the company; he cared very deeply for the many work friends he called his "crew".

Caleb's loss will forever be felt by his strongest supporter, his maternal grandfather, Archie (Rose Carmel) Gillis. As well as by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and all the members of the Gillis-Doyle, Gillis, and King families.

Caleb is predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Jessie McKenzie, who was always there with encouragement and guidance in all of his endeavours.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 30 at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Lilly MacDonald presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK, Halifax. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.

Mom will forever miss hearing "what' s up?"  and your armpit hugs Xoxo.
