Obituary of Agnes Elizabeth MacEachern, New Waterford
We, the family of Agnes MacEachern, are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear mother on June 1, 2023, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age of 99.
Born in New Victoria, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Gouthro.
In her younger days, she was employed with the New Waterford Library and Breton Education Centre.
She loved watching her Toronto Blue Jays; rooting for Kirky. Coronation Street and the Wheel were her two favourite shows.
She is survived by her daughter, Lexie (Dougal), Whitby, ON; sons, Hughie, New Waterford, Frank (Barbara), Glace Bay, John (Janet), Whitby, ON, Billy (Debbie), New Waterford; one sister, Patsy MacNeil, New Waterford; ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Allan MacEachern; sisters, Millie and Corrine; brothers, Leo, Francis, Billy and Freeman; daughter-in-law, Elaine.
The family would like to thank her special niece, Colleen MacNeil, EHS, Cape Breton Regional Hospital ER staff, New Waterford Home Care, VON, and the ladies at the King Street seniors' apartment building where she lived.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Father Jim Oliver officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, New Victoria with a reception to follow in the funeral home.
