Clarence Davis, New Waterford

Obituary of Clarence Bertram "Bert" Davis, New Waterford

It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Bert Davis on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born Feb. 17, 1944 in Windsor, NS, he was a son of the late Clarence and Kay (Galley) Davis of Three Mile Plains, NS.

Bert was a very friendly, laid back, happy go lucky soul and a true gentleman with a great smile. He loved his weekly cribbage games. He also enjoyed playing darts and watching the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays play. Bert had a lifetime membership and was past President of the Royal Canadian Legion #015 and held a number of executive positions over the years. He was also a member of the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, New Waterford.

He always said he had a PHD, even though he didn't go to university. That was his way of saying he was a "Professional Highway Driver". He was an Owner/Operator and drove Long Haul for many years. When he retired from trucking, he went on to drive the Shuttle to Halifax a couple times a week; a job he thoroughly enjoyed.

Bert is survived by his wife, Ruby (Conrad);  brothers, Allan (late Carol), Jim (Carol), Richard (Tracy), Darrell (Glenda); sisters, Joan Pemberton (Allan Murphy), late Gordie Pemberton, Peggy (David) Hood; daughters, Christine (Randy) Mosher, Kathy (Phil) Hampson; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step-son, Richard (Ann) Langridge; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue Ann (Late Jim), Margie (Norm), Maureen (Rene), Millan, Stephen (Diane), Diana (Tammy), and the late Frankie Conrad and Sam and Maxine Conrad.

There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. Bert's favourite song was My Farewell Party by Gene Watson and so we are going to have a Farewell Kitchen Party on Friday, July 28 starting at 2 p.m. in the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217.
