Obituary of L. Cheryl (Burrows) MacKenzie, Glace Bay

L. Cheryl Burrows MacKenzie, age 75, entered into eternal life on June 6, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Christina (McNeil) Burrows.  Cheryl attended Holy Cross School and St. Michael’s High School in Glace Bay.  She was a former member of Holy Cross Parish.  Cheryl will be remembered for her dedication to and love of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as for her laughter and love of dancing.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Lennie (Cindy), Cathy (Steve) and Alex (Kim); her grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings, Sr. Martha Eileen, Tina (Oran) Mosher, Kay (Joe) Mauti, Carol O’Quinn and Martha (Danny) Matheson.

Besides her parents, Cheryl was predeceased by her husband, Eric; her sisters Eileen, Agnes, Therese and her brothers Murray, Bert and Gerard.

Visitation will take place on Friday, June 7, 2024 at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay at 12:00 noon followed by Mass of Resurrection at Holy Cross Church at 2 pm with a reception to follow. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
