Obituary of Fabian Sudworth, New Waterford
It is with great sadness, yet grateful for a life well lived, the family of Fabian announce his peaceful passing on July 1, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Fabe was born in Glace Bay to the late Harold and Blanche (Trainor) Sudworth.
Fabe is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Cathy (Gillis) his sons Michael (Kelly) and David (Amy). His grandchildren Ericia, Emily (Warren), Alexander and Hunter. Great grandchildren Kaeden, Ryleigh, Ellis, and Layla; brother Harold (Kitty); sisters Paula, Sheila (Allan), Doreen and Patricia; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Danny and his sisters Vina and Marie.
Dad did not know the definition of retirement. After a long career as a Devco electrician he “retired” and opened his own electrical business a few days later and worked until the age of 79 and was a mentor to many. He was a Jack of all trades not just electrical. Dad was always full of life and no matter where he went, he would run into someone he knew. He did take time to enjoy his Boston Bruins, the Screaming Eagles and constant companion, his German Sheppard Sheba.
There are no words to express our deep gratitude to Sheila, Paula, Jeff, Wayne, and Justin and many others for being there to navigate Dad’s treatment, appointments, and moral support.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care team, New Waterford Homemakers, and the Cape Breton Hospice for the wonderful care Dad received over the past three years.
A great father, grandfather, and loving husband, he will be missed.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A service will take place at the Parish of St Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, New Waterford, on Thursday at 10:00 am with Fr Godwin Obike presiding. Burial will be in St Agnes Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Army, Navy, Airforce Hall, Smith Street, New Waterford.
