Obituary of Stephen Bradley O'Donnell, New Waterford
It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Stephen (Stef) Bradley O’Donnell, 56, on August 11, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends.
Born in New Waterford on April 12, 1967, he was a son of the late Edward and Loretta (Aucoin) O’Donnell.
In earlier years, Stef was an avid sportsman, his favorite sports being baseball and hockey. He carried his love of sports with him as a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and Montreal Canadiens. He left a smile and a fond lasting impression on everyone he met. His closest friends talk daily of his witty sense of humor. He was a member of Local Union 92 and spent most of his adult life working in Alberta until his untimely illness in 2018.
Stef is survived by his sons, Stephen and Emerson (Rachel); grandchildren, Emersyn, Maddison and special grandson Jake and his mom Emily; brothers, Richard and Brian (Florence); aunt Donna, uncle Charlie and several nieces and nephews. Also, close friends, Brenda, Tony, Ken, Jookie and Gerry.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Darlene, Wendy, Patricia and brothers, Gerry and Patrick.
Funeral arrangements have been placed in the care of V.J. McGillivray Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford, with visitation on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 9:00 until 10:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, at 10:45 am. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. A light luncheon will follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce Hall, Smith Street, New Waterford.
A very special thank you goes out to the many nurses, doctors & surgeons from Cape Breton Regional, Glace Bay and Halifax hospitals. Also, A special thank you to VON, NW Homecare and Palliative Care Services.
