Obituary of Mary Ag Lockman, Reserve Mines

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ag Lockman, age 65 on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 surrounded by family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Susan (McWhirter) Boutilier.

Mary loved many things, her family and friends being the two most important. It was always about "Making Memories". She was an avid leader of Girl Guides for many years and was very talented. From crafting, gardening, sewing/dress making, painting etc. With a cup of tea in hand and a plan, she was always busy doing something, from home renovation, cutting wood, to helping her husband Fran fix their car when it needed work.  Mary passed all of her talents and skills on to her girls and was so proud of them.

Mary was a wife, mother, grandmother and friend to everyone.  If you knew her, you knew she loved unconditionally.

Mary is survived by her husband and soulmate Francis Lockman, her grandchild Taylor Haley who was her world, daughters Angela (Rick) Haley, Margaret (Léon) Laviolette, sisters Debbie (who called her Ma), Vivian, Linda (Joe), Janet and extended family Lindsay, Troy, George, Trish and Cora and many close nieces, nephews and friends.  Mary had chosen many special people to be in her life which she called her own, and if you had the chance to be one you remained so forever.

Mary was predeceased by her grandchild Makenzie, sisters Marilyn Detchevery, Theresa Boutilier and three brothers, Roy, Wayne and Chickie Boutilier.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A burial service, officiated by Fr. Dan Boudreau will be held Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at 3 pm in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

A celebration of her life will take place at Reserve Mines Fire Hall from 3pm to 5pm on Sunday, September 24th, all are welcome.

A special thank you goes out to the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the kindness and compassion they have shown during this difficult time.

Donations in Mary’s memory can be made to the Walk of Life event via the Cape Breton Heart & Wellness Centre, Sydney N.S.
