Florence was very active in the community, including being a member of the CWL, volunteering with meals on wheels and a devotee of Saint Anne’s Church.

Florence was kind, compassionate and was the first to help anyone in need. She was a force of love and happiness and always had a smile to share. Wherever Florence lived, whether it was Rosewood Ave or MacLeod Rd, it was home to her family, as she was the heart of the family. Florence was blessed with a circle of friends. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life.

Florence worked for many years at Rosenblum’s in Glace Bay and at the Sydney Airport with Hertz Rent-A-Car.

Florence was survived by her longtime partner, Stan “Wick” Michalik; children, Kimberley (Doug) Spurrell; Shelly (Julie) Bresson; Tanya (Rob) MacLeod; Jardy (Sheri) Breski; loving sister, Betty (Nipper) Crocker; grandchildren, Jason, Lauren, Samantha, Nicole, Matthew, Ryan, Travis, Ashli; and great-grandchildren, Haley, Declan, Kendall, and Kayce.

In the words of Florence…”If you wish to have something to bury, bury my faults. Do not cry for me, let your tear drops halt. I hope you understand that when it’s your time to cross over, I’ll be waiting for you.”

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 26th from 2 pm to 4 pm in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
