Obituary of Daniel Kenneth 'Kenny' Campbell, New Waterford
It is with great sadness that the Campbell family must announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and dear friend of many. Kenny passed on September 21, 2023 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Waterford, Kenny was a son of the late Daniel and Mary Campbell; the special son of his aunt and uncle, Marion and Doug MacDonald, and was also predeceased by his brother Michael (Laura) Campbell. Following in his father's footsteps, he began working at Lingan Mines as a young man.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife, Cathy; his sons, Chad (Heather), Kenneth, and Matthew (Ashley); his grandchildren, Mya, Zackary, Oliver, and Sawyer; his sisters, Dorothy (Paul) Kraft, Cheryl (Wayne) Steiger, and Heather (Michael) Rousseau; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Kenny had an iconic sense of humour. He never hesitated to give his family and friends a hard time; but everyone who knew him also knew they could count on him for a helping hand, as he was a man who would readily give them the shirt off his back. He was a joker at heart, and always loved laughing and joking with the children in the family, right up until his final days. He had many good times playing darts and watching the Leafs and the Jays, and was always sneaking kielbasa to his fur babies.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Father Godwin Obike officiating. Cremation will follow. A luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall immediately following the service. Donations in his memory may be made to the Cancer Patient Care Fund at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
