Stacia, with a heavy heart, you are going to be missed! Many of your late-night calls to me in the lower 48 (States that is) had me wondering who is calling at this hour. It’s “Stacia” calling at 9:00 PM or 10:00 PM my time – This was the Maritimes time zones and I’m at the West coast. We usually talked for 45 minutes but easily could have talked longer. She also kept me abreast of things going on with my Canadian cousins.
She also liked to visit my parents, Al & Jackie Chasse, for a couple of weeks during the winter in Florida. She had Jackie drive her to the beach almost every day. Typically, she was the only person actually in the when all the other tourists were in their warm jackets.

I got to know Stasia through her work on the Persons with Disabilities Committee at INAC. I was in Ottawa and she was my friend and colleague in Amherst. We had so many long conversations on the phone, Stasia loved to talk and we never had a shortage of things to talk about! She'd talk about her cats, her Church, her years teaching, her former students and how she loved her home. Being part of the INAC team in Amherst was very important to her. She always kept in touch over the years after retirement and I'd be so happy to see her thoughtful words on my facebook. I will miss her friendship but I'm very grateful I was able to get to know her. I do know that wherever she is, there will be lots of cats, and that will make Stasia happy.

Growing up in the small community of New Victoria there were other communities within New Victoria. To name a couple “the lake and “up the hill.” Listening to Keith Brown speak today made Stasia a “legacy” in her “within community.” RIP

I worked with Stasia for many years at then called, Indian and Northern Affairs. She had an awesome memory for detail and I recall many stories about the success of students she had taught over the years. She was proud of each and every one. She had a great sense of humor and loved a good laugh. May she rest in peace. Sending sincere condolences to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

I worked with Stadia for a number of years and we shared many deep conversations. She always loved seeing and hearing about my pups....she truly loved animals especially her cats...she was devoted to them. Stadia had a special place in her heart for her students. She kept in contact with them and with many of her colleagues. With Stasia, her friends were eternal and she was always open and non judgemental. Rest in peace Stasia....until we meet again.

Where does one begin to share the memories I have of Stasia. One being how she taught me how to swim and float on my back if I was to get tired. I think I can speak for all of New Victoria of how we looked forward to her arriving at the Girls Rock. To the Sweeney Family, Paul, Keith and Jane for always being there for her in her time of need. RIP Stasia and fly high with the angels.

As with many of the people who grew up on Daley Road, you can’t think of warm summer days at the Girl’s Rock without remembering Stasia. She had a kindness about her that drew you in, a wonderful smile and a mischievous twinkle in her eye. My condolences to all of her friends who loved her.

Many summer days I would be at the shore with Stasia, she loved writing on the rocks as I did. I remember her great recall of facts, and our little squabbles over them! Her aunt Margaret often braided my hair for me and I’d get to have candy while she twisted my hair from the top of my head and down the back. Statia would sit and watch, often telling some story or other she read about. Rest in peace Stasia.
