Obituary of Darlene Theresa (Williams) Peckham, New Waterford
It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Darlene Theresa (Williams) Peckham announce the sudden passing of our beautiful wife, mother and daughter after a courageous battle with cancer on December 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Darlene was born on May 2, 1966. She was the daughter of Marion (Spingall) Williams and the late Ervin Williams. Darlene leaves behind her loving husband, Bernie Peckham and two daughters, Tanya (Jason) and Crystal (Albert); her five grandchildren, Nevaeh, Cash, Presley, Myla and Kruz; her sister, Cindy (Glen) MacDougall; her brother, Ervin Williams Jr. and many nieces and nephews.
Darlene was known for being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had such a positive attitude that it always lifted up the people around her; it left you feeling so special – it didn’t matter who you were. Darlene was truly one of a kind, there was really no one like her. She would light up any room she walked into.
Darlene was the definition of strong, brave, smart, funny, and loving. She had these beautiful, unforgettable ocean blue eyes; they would shine so bright, even when it was dark. She was so proud of her baby blues because she had her father’s eyes.
Darlene had a special bond with her mother, Marion and her sister, Cindy; they spent many days shopping together, like the three musketeers. She held a close bond with her baby brother, Ervin who she always protected and always had his back no matter what. Darlene spent most of her days with her best bud, Kelly; those two were never up to any good.
Darlene devoted her life to her kids and grandchildren, venturing to Alberta to work six months out of the year just to be close to them. While in Alberta, Darlene built a beautiful work family; they loved her just as much as she loved them. When she wasn’t working in Alberta, she was home in Cape Breton with her family and other grandchildren.
Darlene built the family of her dreams with her loving husband, Bernie, since that beautiful day they met for the first time as 17 year-old kids. They have spent the last 40 years happily together; enjoying many family and friend game night get-togethers; from the mud runs they both loved, to just going for long country drives together. It was truly a love that lasts a lifetime.
Darlene’s family is her biggest accomplishment that she was most proud of. She is loved by so many and will be missed dearly.
