Obituary of Anna Theresa Burke

Anna Theresa Burke New Waterford It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anna Theresa Burke, 87, of New Waterford on Sunday, January 1st , 2017 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital surrounded by her loving family . Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Christine (Roach ) Poirier. Anna is survived by her sisters; Hilda MacKinnion, Alice (Joseph) Muise, Julia Boudreau and sister-in- law Yvonne Poirier. Anna also leaves behind many nieces and nephews including a special nephew Greg (Cathy) Miller. She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald (Manny) Burke, sisters, Effie MacEachern, Janet Kyle, brothers, Edward, Edgar, Wilfred, and Ernest. Anna was also predeceased by step- sisters, Lucie Pottie, Katherine Gallant, Elizabeth Poirier, Mary Jane MacIntyre and step-brother, William Poirier. Respecting Anna`s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral mass. Cremation has taken place under the direction and care of V.J.McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A family graveside service will be held in Mount Carmel Cemetery at later date. Memorial donations in memory of Anna may be made to the An cala Palliative Care Unit at he Cape Breton Regional Hospital. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff of 2nd floor New Waterford Hospital. Your kindness to Anna and her Family will not be forgotten.
