Obituary of Roy Beresford, Glace Bay

Roy Beresford, age 93 of Glace Bay passed away on Wednesday, December 27^th, 2023 at Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay.

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Albert & Edith Maud (Holden) Beresford.

Roy worked for a short time in the local coal mines then moved to Ontario for many years where he was employed in a nickel mine. He was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay and also a member of the pensions club where he played pool and darts.

Roy is survived by his daughter, Yvonne Beresford, two sons, Allan and Manning, all in Sudbury, Ontario, his sister, Audrey Coffin, Mira, brother, George Beresford, Glace Bay, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Irene (Heater)Beresford, two brothers, Billy, Eric Beresford and a sister, Ethel.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Anglican Cemetery, Maple Avenue, Glace Bay at a later date.
