Dear Lynne and Bernice,
As I try to think of the words to express my condolences all that comes to mind is what a true gentleman he was. He will definitely be missed by all the card players and friends he made during those games. We always say “as Alonzo would say one good hand can change the game”. He was an amazing person so kind and thoughtful. Keep all your wonderful memories close as they will help you through this difficult time. Rest In Peace my Friend. Give Oppie a hug for me.

Jimmie would like to follow Alonzo's advice "Don't be sad Jimmie," but, through many tears, it's so very hard to do. Alonzo opened his home to us in August 2016 for 12 days--"make this your home base; mom would be happy for you to use her apartment." How wonderful those days with Alonzo and Oppie were; Alonzo drove us around, showing us the sights Jimmie hadn't seen in decades, going to the club, dancing and singing, and enjoyed lunch at Rita's Tea Room. We visited Sharon's grave, saying a prayer for the wonderful years she spent with her wonderful guy. Jimmie and Alonzo relived special moments of their youth spent together. AND, of course, Alonzo invited Jimmie into his garage, only to regret it the first time; but all was forgiven when Jimmie lost to Alonzo and his buddies the next time. We also went to a card game with Alonzo and Oppie; not doing so well there, but so, so, enjoyed all the comraderie there--Alonzo was in his element. God bless and keep you Alonzo now that you are in God's hands. You'll never be forgotten. With much love from your Ontario cousin--Jimmie and Kathy.

I was introduced to Alonzo for the first time on my first golf trip to PEI with “ the boys”. I was warned ahead of time by Naish and Norm that I would be the “Fresh Meat”. When we arrived at the cabins, I barely had a beer open when Alonzo and Freddie yelled over at me and said “ Come sit between us Fresh Meat”. I figured I might as well jump right in and sat between them and I think they were both shocked that I did but I think I earned their respect right away and it is still talked about many years later. We had a great time playing golf and playing cards that weekend and did do for many years afterwards. Alonzo I wish you well in your next life and hope you always have an Ace up your sleeve. RIP

So sad to hear of Alonzo's passing. He and Dad had a special bond that was more like brothers than uncle and nephew. I got to know him through the years as a kind, mild-mannered man who was nothing but kind to everyone. Lynn and Bernice, you had the best of the best! May he be united with those he loved who have gone before him. Rest easy Alonzo.
