Obituary of Joseph Robert Nicholson, Glace Bay

Joseph Robert Nicholson, 80, of Glace Bay passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Glace Bay Hospital.

Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late John and Theresa (Williams) Nicholson.

Joseph was well known in the area for his ability to ice skate. In his younger years he was known as Mr. Dressup, and he loved his Pepsi and a bag of chips.

Surviving are his sisters, Ida Taylor (Dan), St. Catherines, Margaret Caume, Halifax, Cora Nutter, Glace Bay; brother, James in BC; and many nieces and nephews

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Shirley; five sisters and four brothers.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. A private burial will take place at a later date in St Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
